Vinjo’s Karate is a family owned and operated school that has been providing instruction in the martial arts since 2001. Enter into our classes and automatically become a member of our “family.” The thing that makes us most different from other schools around is our approach to teaching because we are family owned and operated. The fact that we are family owned means that you will see Me (Renshi) the head instructor of the school, my wife Sensei (program director and main instructor) and my both of my kids, we are here everyday and take a special interest in each and every student that walks into our doors. We know who our students are, we know all of their names and we know their core reasons for training, this is important knowledge because it gives us the ability to cater their training experience to the most important aspects of what they need to learn. When a students begins in our classes they will learn both internal and external self defense skills. On the external we have the obvious, they will be learning a very realistic and effective style of self defense. This gives them the skills and techniques necessary to defend against the school bully and have the confidence to stand up for themselves. It also keeps them physically fit, with childhood obesity becoming a growing epidemic this will give them the physical fitness they need to keep them in shape and help keep their hearts healthy. Being parents ourselves we know first hand what it’s like to raise children and the most important “life skills” parent’s would like instilled within their children. This brings us to the internal side that we teach, we classify the internal side as “life skills,” the skills that kids use everyday in their lives. Life skills include the skills of focus, concentration, respect, discipline, self discipline, self respect, indomitable spirit (the spirit that never quits) and higher self esteem. Children will not fight everyday, but they will use their life skills everyday, children armed will higher quality life skills can’t help but to better in school, in relationships and in life. That is one of our main goals here at Vinjo’s Karate, to help children have a better quality of life through our martial arts training, it is important that they excel here at the dojo, but we also want them to excel in school and at home too.
